Course: 24262 Mechanics II 3D Design
Team of 4
Jan – Apr 2024
In this project, my team and I designed a foldable chair that packs down flat, assembles quickly, and stays structurally stable under real use (…which took more tries than we expected). We focused on manufacturability, cost, and making something that feels simple but still satisfying to build.
I contributed to early ideation, prototyping, testing, material selection, and the overall manufacturing plan. I also helped build and refine the physical prototype, and helped write and organize parts of the final report and presentation.
We spent a lot of time figuring out tolerances, simplifying joints, and balancing cost with buildability. And honestly, watching the final chair hold someone’s weight without any drama was probably the highlight.
